A woman; her daughter

A woman; her daughter

I was on my way to a very important meeting.I was going to see a couple friends and friends’ friends. I boarded a tricycle (Keke NAPEP) and hoped the driver would move swiftly enough to get me there on time.

Beside me sat a woman, I cant tell how old or young she was, with her beautiful daughter who couldn’t be above 5 years old. i tried to make her feel as comfortable as possible as we made our way from Ojodu to Ogba.

Not so far into the journey, the woman finished eating corn and threw the cob out the Kekee. I turned to look at her and it’s either she didn’t see me looking at her or she was just a little defiant. she must have known that what she did was wrong. Don’t you think so? I truned towards the road, tempted to tell her to her face but I didn’t have the ‘liver’ so I just shut my mouth and faced the road.

Not up to 3 minutes later, this little girl too finished eating her own share of the corn and threw the cob out the moving vehicle. Immediately she did that, she looked at me. She may nor have been repentant though as there was this non-challance in her eyes. I would have rebuked her if she was alone but she was in the company of her mother who had given her precedence.

Maybe you don’t have a little girl or you haven’t thrown a cob of corn outta a moving vehicle but there’s that one or omre person(s) who takes after you in ways that you may not even be aware of.

Maybe all of us don’t get to have large spheres of influence but no matter how small or big it is, a sphere is a sphere and as much as we may not admit it, we influence people, few or many.

Summarily, not averyone looks down on you. some look up to you and you don’t even know. Don’t even let anyone look down on you because you are young. Be examples in your speech, conduct, love, faith and purity.

Have a blessed week!

  1. Sis, you hit the nail on the head with this post! I recently attended a picnic at a Nigerian church in the US, and this lady in front of me tossed her daughter’s ice cream cup unto the floor. I was shook. Five minutes later, her son was done with his too, and she tossed that one as well. I was shooketh! There were trash cans stationed all around the picnic ground.

She has a perfect opportunity to influence her audience of one positively, and I hope she realizes that sooner than later.
