I had asked Ronke several times how she slept so peacefully in spite of the one hundred and onety-one mosquitoes that made melody every night in our ears. I just couldn’t fathom how a person under the ssound of their chorale would be able to sleep like nothing was going on
Sometimes, I stayed up to kill the mosquitoes i saw perching on her and on several instances, I saw myself in her. I remember that when I was that age, my mum and sisters were always concerned about how I could ‘sleep on water’ and even when there was so much confusion around, I would still sleep like I was in heaven.
Maybe it was because I outgrew sleeping deeply or I became more aware of the many problems around me that I stopped sleeping that way. Whatever it is, I honestly wish I can go back to that time of my life when I didn’t have a care in the world (or maybe I did. They are just frivolous compared to the problems I have now).
I had looked forward to becoming ‘a big girl’ so much and for all it is, there’s no turning back. I have to embrace all the mosquitoes that fly past me now. They are so many that sometimes, I get down with Malaria but I always recover the next day. Don’t I? ๐๐
Here’s this. God wants us to thrive in spite of everything that life throws at us. More importantly, he wants us to trust him. In the middle of all the confusion or chaos as it were that we find ourselves in, we know that we can smile at the storm cos Jesus is in the boat.
You can listen to Folabi Nuel’s In my boat Here.
Another very interesting thing is that as opposed to when I was much younger and felt mosquito nets were unnecessary and they just disfigured my room, I now see how they help us keep those little creatures away and in turn, help us stay healthy. Also, whatever we regard as boundary is actually for our own good. I’m wiser now and even though I still don’t like nets, I can live with them.

When we intentionally walk out of the provision of protection God has made for us, we are bound to get bitten by squitoes. Sometimes we might even get down with fever but God as the super daddy that He is, will always care for us and safely tuck us in. Yeah He’s bad good like that.

So, remember. Trust God. He’s in your boat. You can smile at the storm. You don’t have to carry the burden of worrying. He’s got you.
Also, you feel like you been bitten so hard cos you didn’t use your net, cos you feel like you walked out of God, oh that you’d know how much He longs for you. Nothing can take your place in the Father’s heart. He’s ever there. If you’d just reach out. He’s reaching out already. Respond to His love.
