On Sunday last week, I took out my phone from my bag just before the service started (or was it in the middle of it? I can’t remember sha) and I read the news of the plane that crashed that morning. I had not gotten over all the bad news I had been hearing all through the week of people dying cos of other people’s selfish ambitions. My heart had begun to ache for my dear country and then this again?

That night, I decided to spend some time praying before I slept and the song the Holy Spirit gave me was

“you reign you reign you reign over all
You reign you reign you reign you reign
You reign you reign you reign over all
You reign you reign you reign”

I was still a little bit worried but I was reminded of the supremacy of God in all of this.

The next day, I resumed school at DLA (Daystar Leadership Academy) and during the opening ceremony, Pastor Wale sang this chorus
“I sing for joy at the works of Your hands
Forever I’ll love you forever I’ll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You”

We sang this song for about 5 times I think and then this truth sank deeper than it ever has.

There are of course promises of long life, good health, abundance and all the amazing promises we have from God. Here’s it. Of all these promises we have from God, the promise of spending forever with God is the greatest.

Different things will always happen to and around us that sometimes shake us to our foundations. We lose friends, loved ones die, we experience warned different kinds of stuff and in all of it, nothing still compares to the promise we have in Him.

Nothing, absolutely nothing compares to the promise we have through Jesus Christ.
